About me

Born in 1995 in Leverkusen, Germany, to a french mother and a cuban father, Yannick Benavides is an audiovisual artist, film producer and director.
He learned playing the piano when he was 11-years-old and sought to become a music producer for electronic music in his late teens. Eventually he was admitted to study music and media at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf in 2015, where he specialized in music informatics, visual music and audiovisual production to become a film director with a distinct affinity for music videos. Acting as a writer and director, he created many music videos for the genre of contemporary music.
While defining his style through his own projects, he co-founded and produced the music video format „away from stage sessions“.
He graduated in 2021 with a bachelor of music and was admitted to enroll for a master of arts degree at the university of applied sciences in Dortmund, Germany, in the same year through a pitch presenting the development for the short film “pisicorre”.
Thanks to his abilities and knowledge in music, he is able to approach film production from a sensitive perspective which enables him to take responsibility as a director, producer and editor for music-related films, documentaries and advertisement. His love for the moving image and sound is nurtured by his desire to express associative feelings of everyday life, accessed through the power of cinema.
